Vinted Users Voice Displeasure About Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
