Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.
An important political figure said the incident rendered him stunned and required to be addressed promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
